Don Davis President, Capital City Bank of Gainesville
Following graduation from the University of Florida, Don began his banking career in 1985 in Gainesville with Barnett Bank. He is currently President, Capital City Bank’s Gainesville Market. His interest in turn-of-the century phosphate mining and local history led him to terms as President of The Newberry Area Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Dudley Farm, Matheson Museum, and The Alachua Press. Don is a graduate of Leadership Gainesville and Leadership Florida. He is a Past Captain of the Gainesville Quarterback Club and currently serves as Treasurer of the Florida Track Club. Don is a 1981 graduate of Gainesville Regional Utility’s Volunteer Energy Auditor Class and he once built his own solar hot water heater. He worked with Gainesville Regional Utilities on the language in their power purchase agreement and became one of the first residential users to install solar PV and sell power under GRU’s historic Feed-In-Tariff Incentive plan. Don specializes in financing green energy-efficiency projects including residential and commercial solar pv systems. He also established the Going Green Council, an email group which shares information with business owners and individuals involved in some aspect of green construction. Don and his wife, Sandy, a physical therapist at the Veteran’s Hospital in Gainesville, have a daughter, Noel, who is married to Tripp Miller and lives in Jacksonville, Florida.
Wolfgang Beaugrand SE Regional Sales Manager, Mage Solar Projects Inc.
Wolfgang is the southeastern regional sales manager for Mage Solar Projects, Inc. His territory covers Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Alabama. He is based out of Sarasota County, Florida. He has been a member of the Man Kind Project, a group based on integrity and accountability. His education is from Friedich List Schule, Darmstadt. He speaks fluent German as well as English. He has been communicating with House Representative Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda many times and supports her with facts of the solar industry. She is a big supporter of renewable energy and she values what information and knowledge he has to offer her. Wolfgang is a member of FARE, as well as a member of FLSEIA, and GSREIA. In the past he has been involved in the local Rotary Club. He has also worked in Louisiana on Solar Projects like Blue Plate, American Can and Garden District a Historic Renovations Inc. Dr. Roger Messenger
Vice President for Engineering VB Engineering, Inc., Boca Raton, Florida Ph.D. Electrical Engineering – University of Minnesota - 1969 NABCEP certified installer, Florida Registered Engineer PE 18033, Florida Certified Electrical Contractor, 13001305 Retired from Florida Atlantic University Department of Electrical Engineering after 36 years service as Research Associate, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor including 11 years of academic administration. Lifetime of energy experience dating back to the 1970’s energy crisis. Co-author of Photovoltaic Systems Engineering, 3rd Edition, CRC Press, Boca Raton, FL 2010. Design of Solar grid-tie, off-grid and grid-tie battery backed projects throughout Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Conducted numerous training sessions in PV system design, installation and inspection over the past 4 years
Arnaud Luguet, Founder, Hurricane Wind
Arnaud Luguet has been in the energy industry for the past twelve years, during which Mr. Luguet has fulfilled the positions of project manager, sales engineer, managing director, chief technical officer, and once again currently holding the position of managing director. He is currently the co founder and managing director for Hurricane Wind, a wind and solar energy development company based in Miami Beach, Florida.
Mr. Luguet is originally from Paris, France. His degrees include an undergraduate degree in sciences from University of technology Paris X and an engineering degree from CESI (Centre for Higher Studies in Industrial Techniques). His career started as a sales engineer for a large wind turbine manufacturer, Repower, and moved to their project department where he was in charge of turnkey project management. Arnaud was also the Chief Technical Officer for EOLFI the VEOLIA wind subsidiary where he was in charge of the procurement, construction, and operation of more than 300 MW of wind projects.
During this same time Mr. Luguet co-founded LS ENERGIE, a wind development company in France. He was responsible for the creation of the company as well as management of the company and acquisitions and sales of other companies. During his time at LS ENERGIE, Mr. Luguet also oversaw land research, landowner negotiations, agency relations, regulations analysis, micro siting, building permits submittal, and wind studies.
Bill Johnson, Owner, Brilliant Harvest, LLC
Born in Denver Colorado, Bill moved to Sarasota Florida in 1975 with his family, and grew up with solar hot water and solar pool systems on his roof. Bill received his Undergraduate degree in physics from Emory University in Atlanta Georgia, a Masters in physics from the University of South Florida in Tampa, and an MBA from the University of Florida in Gainesville. After finishing his MBA, Bill worked for a number of telecommunications start-ups in Chicago, Illinois and Denver, Colorado before returning to Sarasota with his wife and two children.
Bill founded Brilliant Harvest in early 2009 to pursue sustainable business models in the Florida solar market. He is a Florida state certified solar contractor #CVC56791. Brilliant Harvest is a full service solar contractor, based in Sarasota, serving residential and commercial clients on the west coast of Florida. Bill is a graduate of the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Sarasota program.
Bill is an active community volunteer and has served on a number of local not-for-profit boards, including Crowley Museum and Nature Center and The Florida Center for Early Childhood where he is the immediate past chairman of the board.
Jeremiah Rohr Trainer/Sales Representative, Solar Source
Jeremiah graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Industrial Technology and Construction Management and worked in various manufacturing and construction organizations with a strong concentration on technology and process theory, as well as the practical use of industrial grade applications. He has had a lifelong interest in solar applications, both thermal and PV, dating back to the energy crisis of the late 70’s. Jeremiah followed and studied this field as it has grown and developed into the maturing industry that it is today. Having designed and built passive structures as well as active solar systems, most recently, he has received his NABCEP Certificate of Knowledge for PV from Solar Source Institute and is the lead instructor for thermal classes and other introductory programs for SSI. He is also a technical sales representative for the commercial division of Solar Source. He has a well developed knowledge of engineering, construction, manufacturing and management skills and has created training programs consisting of overall theories and general knowledge understanding of various systems and processes.
Kent Crook is President and owner of Wiremasters Electric and a state certified contractor for 30 years, he is well connected in the South Florida community, high voltage in his contributions, and turned on to personal growth. For connections, he is a trustee and board member of Chamber South. Kent is a member of the Pinecrest Business Association and Greater Kendall Business Association.
In the energy field, he is on the Board of Directors of FARE and a member of the U.S Green Building Council. He is an active member of Christ Fellowship where he participated in a year-long training program called Life Work Leadership. He has also donated a solar panel and pumps to both the Miami-Dade College Environmental Research Center and to the Terra Environmental Research Institute to help educate the students on how solar works.
One of his most recent creations is Mr-Solar, a new division of his company devoted to energy efficiency and renewable energy. He is also a state certified solar contractor.
Alex Rivera Vice President, Vanguard Energy Partners
As a partner at Vanguard, Mr. Rivera excels at the development of new, renewable energy markets within the Caribbean and the U.S. His commitment to policy as the driving force toward the proliferation of clean energy generation has contributed to Vanguard’s success in the Northeastern U.S. and the entrance into the Caribbean markets. Years of executive management experience have influenced his business development strategies of sustainable growth during challenging business cycles. This facilitates Vanguard’s success during these early years of the renewable energy industry. His participation within the renewable sector covers areas from construction services and business development to policy research. Alex Rivera’s commitment to the emerging renewable energy market has brought him to participate in the following organizations: Noveda Technologies, The New Jersey Alliance for Action Energy Committee, The Solar Energy Industry Association and The Florida Alliance for Renewable Energy.org Steering Committee. Mr. Rivera is part of the team involved with the First Net Zero Electric Commercial Site in the U.S. (Ferreira Construction) and its top achievement received from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities as the “2007 Market Innovator of the Year.” He earned a bachelor’s degree of International Studies at the University of South Florida in 1986.
Haseeb Qadri is a successful serial entrepreneur who has broad business development experience in infotech, healthcare consultation, financial services, venture capital, and non-profit sectors. Haseeb started his financial services company, H & H Equities LLC, catering to the market needs of hedge funds and independent money managers. Under his leadership, H & H Equities produced revenues of over $1 Million and achieved profitability within its first year. His firm went on to partner with E*Trade Professional, a subsidiary of E*Trade Financial. Prior to starting H & H Equities, Haseeb was a money manager and mentored groups of traders at a small boutique firm. He has also advised private individuals on technology, biotechnology, and healthcare industry trends and opportunities for investments. Preceding his financial services trek, Haseeb started Infinity Computer Technologies (ICT) which provided solutions for educational, healthcare facilities, and mid-sized businesses for their infotech needs. Haseeb majored in Computer Science at the University of Central Florida (UCF), with an interest in AI and network topologies, and minored in International Relations at the prestigious Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. He is also fluent in Urdu (major dialect in India and Pakistan). Haseeb was recently been awarded the Excellence in Entrepreneurship certificate from the University of Central Florida’s Technology Incubator. Mr. Qadri is the CEO and Founder of NovaSol Energy. NovaSol Energy provides renewable energy solutions for large-scale commercial customers and utilities.
Scott McIntyre, CEO, Solar Energy Management, LLC
Scott McIntyre is a graduate from the University of Florida. He is currently the CEO of Solar Energy Management LLC. Solar Energy Management was started in 2008 with offices in Tampa and St Petersburg. SEM is a state wide commercial energy efficiency contractor and certified solar contractor. Prior to running Solar Energy Management Scott McIntyre was VP and part owner of SI Systems a nationwide construction software and technology firm for 26 years.
Scott McIntyre is also VP Total Building Environments South a state wide open system building controls and heat exchanger dealer for Colmac Coil. Solar Energy Management and TBES clients include: SunTrust, Cleveland Clinic, USF, HCC Tampa, Panera Bread, Lynx Transportation in Orlando, Marc Rutenberg Homes, Quality Storage, Zero Energy America and others.
Scott McIntyre sits on the board at Florida International University. He is also a member of Flaseia, USGBC and FGBC. Mr. McIntyre is active in supporting the arts through being a member of the Order of Salvador at the Dali Museum. Mr. McIntyre is also on the Development Council at All Children’s Hospital and volunteer’s with Big Brothers / Big Sisters and Cartoons in Teaching.
